LIFE MEMBERSHIP SA ICPA

Helen Williams

The Isolated Children’s and Parents’ Association of South Australia proudly awarded Life Membership to Helen Williams in April, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to SA ICPA spanning more than 20 years.

Helen has been an active and dedicated member of SA ICPA at both branch and state levels, as well as contributing nationally. Her long-standing involvement has seen her take on a wide range of roles, each carried out with incredible commitment and reliability.

Helen served as State Secretary from 2008 to 2011 and, in true Helen fashion, she stepped back into the role midway through the 2011–2012 council year when the elected secretary was unable to continue. She remained in the position until the 2012 AGM, ensuring continuity and stability. Following this, Helen was elected State Treasurer at the 2012 State Conference, a role she then held for a 4-year term until early 2016.

Beyond these executive roles, Helen has contributed extensively to SA State Council as the Marla Oodnadatta Branch Representative, Lone Member Officer, Publicity Officer, and State Webmaster. She has also represented South Australia at a joint council meeting and served on the convening committee for the 2013 Federal Conference.

Helen’s willingness to step up whenever needed has left a lasting impression on those she has worked alongside. Former colleagues recall the invaluable guidance she provided to new council members, always ready to offer advice, review documents, or lend a hand, no matter how big or small the task. Her depth of knowledge and steady support helped guide many through their roles, particularly during busy conference preparations and council responsibilities.

The majority of Helen’s years on State Council were served after her own children had finished school, demonstrating a dedication to ICPA and its members that has helped create better outcomes for future generations, including her own grandchildren, who are completing their schooling through Distance Education. Whether attending meetings, supporting her local branch, or contributing at a state or federal level, Helen has consistently and selflessly given her time and energy to ensure the organisation’s success.

Thank you Helen and congratulations on a very well-deserved SA ICPA Life Membership.
