Background:

Robyn, her husband Shane and their three boys own Kinrara Station (58000-acre grazing property 130kms from Mt Garnet, Far North Qld). Currently the boys are spread all over Queensland; one at TAFE, one finishing year 12 in Charters Towers and the youngest away at boarding school in Brisbane. The boy’s education story probably started in 2007 when the middle child was diagnosed with typical Autism, which prompted early intervention and the beginning of many many hours travelling from Kinrara to specialist appointments and overnight stays in rented houses and hostels.  Over the educational journey the children experienced, early intervention at Atherton State School, intense intervention at AQ (Autism Qld) , Cairns SDE,  CTSDE followed by Boarding school.

Robyn commenced her schooling in the regional town of Townsville and completed high school in Brisbane before attending the University of Queensland (formerly QAC).  Following Gatton, Robyn gained employment in the varying degrees within the livestock and agriculture industries (Stock Inspector for DPI and Equine Veterinary Hospital, Research Analysts Australian Meat Holdings (Beef City) then changed direction and joined the QLD Police Service with natural progression back to the rural sector as a Detective within Stock Squad/Criminal Investigations Branch), before marrying a local grazier and relocating to the Charters Towers district.

Robyn is passionate about bringing awareness and change to the challenges connected with educating rural and remote children with a particular emphasis on the significant challenges associated for families with children with specific needs. She has a strong desire to cultivate connections and understanding between the bush and our metropolitan cousins.  Robyn has been a member of FNQ branch for many years, has attended three State Conferences and one Federal Conference.  She is extremely honoured and excited about the opportunity to work within a team of passionate dedicated professionals to advocate for the needs of Isolated Parents and Children and make change!
