Background:

Jayne Cuddihy loves a good chat, fat steers and her home near Moura in Central Queensland. As a multi-award-winning professional communicator, Jayne runs her own media company between adventures into the paddock to help her husband Martin and teaching their children through Distance Ed.

Having attended the Charters Towers Distance Ed as a child, Jayne had a firsthand experience through her mother’s ICPA involvement in how the organisation has been shaping the educational experiences of rural and remote Queenslanders for decades. This insight has only been enhanced through her own experience as a home tutor for the last eight years.

The experience in a multi-level classroom while balancing other community and industry committees, work and life in the family cattle business and a full time job as a freelance journalist, Jayne is adept at creating time and energy for what matters most. The access to a quality education for all children, no matter background or tyranny of isolation is pivotal to the future of our communities. With well over 20 years of experience as a journalist, Jayne brings the ability to cut through noise, bring people together, and be an advocate for change while being inclusive and considered.

Jayne has been an ICPA member in Charters Towers and Dawson Valley and has assisted with many of the events and initiatives for both branches.

Jayne Cuddihy is a multi-award-winning professional communicator with over 23 years’ experience reporting, writing and broadcasting across Australia and overseas. She comes from - and is deeply committed to- regional Australia and its people and has worked tirelessly to bridge the city-country divide through engaging storytelling. After a career at the ABC as a senior journalist, Jayne now owns and operates her own media business, writing for various national magazines and rural newspapers as well as producing and hosting podcasts.
