Yaraka/Isisford ICPA Branch History:
The Yaraka/Isisford Branch was formed on 18th December 1980. The inaugural President was Mike Cobb, Secretary Betty Turner and foundation members came from the town of Isisford and properties in the Isisford and Yaraka districts. Membership numbers have flucuated over the years, however the branch endeavours to be represented at annual State and Federal conferences by at least one delegate.
The Yaraka/Isisford Branch actively supports several programs which recognise and assist isolated children’s quest for a better education.
Student Teacher Assistance:
Yaraka-Isisford ICPA offer travel assistance to the total value of $500 to a student teacher (one per school per year) travelling to do their practicum at Isisford State School, Stonehenge State School or Longreach School of Distance Education. Details of placement etc. must be provided to the Branch Treasurer prior to the commencement of the placement and receipts must be provided for payment to be approved.
2024 CBA $2500 Tertiary Scholarship - closing 28th April 2025
2 decades of helping - 2024 is the 25th Anniversary year of the CBA Tertiary Scholarship!!!
Application Criteria
This is a once only payment of $2500 from the Commonwealth Bank.
ELIGIBILITY:
- The Scholarship is available ONLY to 2024 graduating Year 12 students going directly into tertiary studies in 2025
- The applicant’s parents MUST be current ICPA members of any Queensland branch
- Applicants MUST be undertaking FULL TIME university study or a two year diploma course at a Queensland Rural Training College in 2025
PROCESS FOR SELECTION:
Applicants are to submit (copies) of:
1. Year 12 Results/Senior certificate.
2. Proof of entry to University/College
3. Two references (school based are acceptable)
4. Resume of interests and achievements other than academic: e.g. sporting, cultural etc.
5. 200 word article “WHY ME. (Student please sign this)
6. Cover page with contact details, including address, phone number and email
Selection will be based on scholastic ability, evidence of non –academic personal achievement, the content of the references and commitment by the student to return to a rural area with the qualifications gained.
Representatives of the Commonwealth Bank, ICPA or the Community will select the winner.
Presentation to take place at recipient’s closest CBA branch in June University holiday period.
It is expected that photos and articles be made available to the media and to Yaraka-Isisford ICPA branch.

Sir Wally Rae Sports Linda Tindall Memorial Trophy for Sportsmanship:
For many years the Yaraka/Isisford ICPA branch has sponsored an encouragement award for sportsmanship at the annual Sir Wally Rae Sports, which is hosted by the Isisford State School. Since the tragic passing of branch member Linda Tindall these awards have been re-named the Linda Tindall Memorial Sportsmanship Awards. Each recipient is presented with a trophy to take home and there is a perpetual shield. The shield is engraved with the winners’ names and remains housed at the Isisford State School.
