Background:

Mary joined Yaraka Isisford Branch ICPA in the late 1980`s.   Owning and operating the local store in Yaraka whilst also rearing young daughter Annie kept Mary busy but she still found time to attend meetings.

In 1993 Mary was elected to the position of Branch Publicity Officer, a position she held for many years. With her love of photography and being able to pen a good written article, she filled this position very well.

She had one year as Branch President in 1997 then was again elected in 2000 and has held the position up to the present time.

On at least two occasions, Mary has represented ICPA Qld Council at the Qld Association of Gifted and Talented Childrens` Annual Conference. An area of special interest for Mary with youngest daughter Andi-Claire being Gifted and Talented.

For a period of four years Mary held the position of Qld State Fund Raising Co–ordinator and was the ICPA representative on the N.W. Area PCAP Management Committee for many years. Mary also had a period in the position for Co-ordination and Maintenance of the Pedals data base for Federal Council.

It was in 1993 that Mary attended her first State Conference in Mt Isa. From this beginning 19 years ago as a nervous new delegate, I believe we can now classify Mary as a veteran delegate. Having attended at least 6 State Conferences and 7 Federal Conferences as a delegate for Yaraka Isisford Branch as well as many others as an observer and in her role as Qld State Fund Raising Coordinator. As a branch delegate, Mary always made sure she was armed with the right information and that motions were presented with correct wording for Conference protocol.

If one thinks of Mary, you also think ICPA. Total commitment. I doubt you would find a more dedicated and passionate ICPA member.

In this Branch Life Membership nomination all Yaraka Isisford members are proud to honour and recognise Mary`s commitment to ICPA. Never afraid to stand up for what she believes in and never passes up an opportunity to promote ICPA or encourage new families to join.

In her 12 years as branch President, Mary has worked tirelessly, always actively encouraged members to submit motions for State and Federal Conferences or attend as delegates. She has been involved in a variety of branch fund raising activities and has an enviable talent of “selling ice to Eskimos” with her ability to obtain sponsorships and raffle prizes, then more great talent at actually selling ALL the raffle tickets.  Mary keeps us all organised for events with check lists and “to do” sheets.
