Pauline Brunckhorst – Yaraka/Isisford Branch Life Membership, 2014
Pauline Brunckhorst has made an outstanding contribution to the Yaraka/Isisford Branch of ICPA, demonstrating more than two decades of dedication, leadership and commitment to supporting geographically isolated children and their families. Her extensive involvement in Branch administration, fundraising and conference representation, combined with her firsthand experience as a Home Tutor, has made her a highly valued and respected member of ICPA.
Throughout her membership of the Yaraka/Isisford Branch, Pauline has been an enthusiastic and hands-on supporter, willingly contributing her time and energy to numerous Branch activities. She has generously assisted at fundraising functions and donated items for raffles and community events, helping strengthen the Branch's financial position and support its ongoing activities.
Pauline's commitment to Branch leadership has been particularly significant. She served as Branch Vice President for five years and Treasurer for an impressive 16 years, providing valuable continuity, experience and organisational support to successive Branch committees. Her willingness to undertake these important responsibilities reflected her dedication to ensuring the Branch remained active, financially sound and effective in representing isolated families.
During her extensive service as Treasurer, Pauline was recognised for her exceptional financial management and meticulous record-keeping. She maintained accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring the Branch's finances were carefully managed and well organised. Her high standards and attention to detail established an excellent foundation for those who followed her in the role.
Beyond her executive responsibilities, Pauline also served for several years as the Branch Edmart Coordinator, undertaking an important role in supporting Distance Education families. Edmart was a wholesale school supply company through which families could purchase educational materials and school supplies. Pauline coordinated individual orders from members, organised the purchasing process and managed the distribution of goods, helping families access the resources needed for their children's education.
Pauline's contribution extended beyond her local Branch through her representation at numerous ICPA Queensland State and Federal Conferences. She attended three State Conferences as a Yaraka/Isisford Branch delegate, including Cloncurry in 2001, Blackall in 2004 and Rockhampton in 2011. Her participation ensured the educational concerns of families throughout the district were represented within the wider Queensland organisation.
She also represented the Branch at three ICPA Federal Conferences, attending Hobart in 2003, Canberra in 2005 and Fremantle in 2010. Her willingness to travel considerable distances to participate in these conferences demonstrated her commitment to ICPA and her interest in the broader issues affecting geographically isolated families across Australia.
Throughout her many years of involvement, Pauline has demonstrated the importance of dedicated volunteers who contribute both through formal leadership and the countless hours of practical work required to maintain an active Branch. Her reliability, generosity and willingness to assist wherever needed have made her an invaluable member of the Yaraka/Isisford Branch.
Pauline's longstanding service has provided continuity and stability to the Branch, while her experience and knowledge have supported successive committees and fellow members. Her commitment to ICPA has extended well beyond her own family's educational needs, reflecting a genuine desire to support future generations of rural and remote children.
In recognition of her more than two decades of dedicated membership, five years as Branch Vice President, 16 years as Treasurer, contribution as Edmart Coordinator, extensive State and Federal Conference representation and tireless support of Branch fundraising and activities, Pauline Brunckhorst was nominated for Life Membership of the Yaraka/Isisford Branch.
