Put into the executive fairly promptly after joining the branch mid-1984, Heather started as Branch Vice-President for 6 months then became President from 1989-1993, Branch Treasurer for 5 years, also inaugural Treasurer for the local VISE committee on its inception in 1992.
Heather was elected to Qld State Council ICPA in October 1996 at the Silver Jubilee 25th Annual Conference in Charleville. First up as a committee, taking on Lone Member Officer position in 1998, then elected Assistant State Secretary at Hughenden Conference in September 1999 and remained in this position until retiring for health reasons in 2002.
During her time on State Council, Heather had a stint as head of both the Post-Compulsory and Hostels Portfolios, was a member of committees for Allowances, Travel, Hostels, Small Schools and Early Childhood as well as a member of News & Views sub-committee.
She assisted in the writing of many submissions and responses to government but still had time to attend meetings, functions and fundraising ventures at branch level, and attend State and Federal conferences as a delegate….. A quiet achiever.
