Background:

Sharryn grew up in Miles and went to boarding school at St Saviour’s College in Toowoomba and then onto Longreach Pastoral College, before working as a Jillaroo, Stablehand, Teacher Aide and School Bus Driver, among other things over the years.

Sharryn and Reg lived on a property in Miles until 2022, when they sold and moved to Woopen Creek, near Innisfail, continuing to grow beef cattle.

They have three children, who all attended boarding schools in Yeppoon.

Olivia is studying a Bachelor of Music at UQ, Tyson is in his second year as an Electrical Apprentice and Grace is completing Year 12 in 2026, hoping to study Criminal Psychology in Brisbane in 2027.

Sharryn first attended meetings at Western Downs ICPA Branch and served as Branch Vice President for four years and Branch Secretary for two years before transferring to Far North Qld Branch, where she has been Secretary for two years.

Sharryn is passionate about the importance of ICPA supporting rural and remote children and proud to be a part of an organisation which gets things done!

Sharryn is looking forward to the challenge of learning and engaging as a State Councillor and is very appreciative to have been elected into the position and leading the Tertiary, Trade and Training Portfolio for 2026/7.
