Background:

Heidi Millership lives and works alongside her husband, Trent, at Tanbar Station in far south-west Queensland. Together they are raising their two children, Elsey and Roper, while navigating the opportunities and challenges of remote family life.

Since relocating to the Channel Country from the Northern Territory in 2021, Heidi has been actively involved with the Boulia-Bedourie-Birdsville Branch of the Queensland ICPA, serving as Branch Secretary. Prior to moving to Queensland, she joined the Katherine Branch of the ICPA in 2019 as Fundraising Officer and was elected to the Northern Territory State Council in 2020.

Over the years, Heidi has attended numerous ICPA conferences as a delegate and has developed a strong understanding of the issues affecting rural and remote families. She is passionate about advocating for equitable educational opportunities and practical support for children living in geographically isolated areas. Heidi is excited to join the Queensland ICPA State Council as Assistant Secretary and contribute to the organisation’s ongoing advocacy efforts.

Education is a topic close to Heidi’s heart. Her daughter, Elsey, is preparing to commence her boarding school journey, while her son, Roper, continues his education through Longreach School of Distance Education. These experiences provide Heidi with firsthand insight into the educational pathways available to remote families and the support required to make them successful.

Beyond ICPA, Heidi has served on numerous community organisations across both the Northern Territory and Queensland in secretary and treasurer roles. Through these experiences, she has gained a deep appreciation for the importance of community involvement and volunteer leadership in remote areas, where local events, services and opportunities often rely on people stepping forward to contribute.

As Assistant Secretary, Heidi is committed to supporting ICPA members, strengthening communication across the state and advocating for positive outcomes for Queensland’s rural and remote families, ensuring every child has access to quality educational opportunities regardless of location.
