Motion:

“That ICPA Qld lobbies the Department of Education (DoE) to ensure there is extra non-contact provided for teachers / teaching principals at rural and remote schools that offer State Delivered Kindergarten.”

Explanation:

Schools that provide State Delivered Kindergarten have still not been given extra non-contact for classroom teachers / teaching principals.  Teachers are currently spending many hours planning for this additional year level and yet get no extra time to do this effectively. 

After several conversations with K-2 and K-6 teachers and teaching principals in the region it is obvious that teachers are struggling with all the extra planning involved in delivering an effective and play-based program.
