A50: CLARKE CREEK BRANCH

Tertiary, Trade & Training
Motion:

“That Clarke Creek ICPA Branch commends the work of Queensland State Council and encourages ongoing advocacy for the establishment and expansion of Country University Centres (CUCs).”

Explanation:

Clarke Creek ICPA Branch has witnessed first-hand the benefits of having two CUCs operating in the Isaac Shire. After just 12 months of operation, enrolments have far exceeded expectations and currently sit at around 80 students at the Moranbah campus. 51% of the students are undertaking full time study and 49% are studying part-time. Strong and growing uptake indicates the need for further expansion into additional rural communities.

CUCs allow students to study close to home with the ongoing support of family, reduce costs associated with relocation and accommodation, while building capacity within their local area. ICPA Qld’s ongoing advocacy for equitable access to education and opportunities across all stages of learning aligns well with the expansion of Country University Centres (CUCs) across Regional Queensland.
