“That ICPA Qld seeks reassurance from Telstra that with the phasing out of the HCRCS telephones in all rural areas with the transition to a Satellite system, that the existing solar power equipment will continue to be used or an alternative option offered, particularly in areas without any Mobile reception.”
Explanation:
ICPA members were assured that the existing solar power would continue to be used with the new satellite telephones when they are phased in. The statement from Telstra does not mention this. As most clients on HCRCS are not in mobile coverage area, it is essential that we have access to a telephone twenty-four hours a day. It would be a backward step to only have access to a telephone when the power is on.
