Welcome to the Alpha Branch!
The inaugural meeting of the Alpha branch was held on 20 July 1972. The meeting was chaired by Mrs Daphne Rich, who was at that time the State Secretary of ICPA. The founding executive included:
- President – Neville Hinrichsen (Snr)
- Vice President – Julie Woltmann
- Secretary – Naomi Cook and Win Dyer
In 1994, the Alpha branch became incorporated. This was mainly due to a major fund raiser, the 7-a-side Cricket Day which was held on the second Saturday of January each year. The number of teams who enter the competition has increased to 28 teams and the matches are played on pitches and ovals all around town. In 1995, a portable cement pitch was constructed for the showgrounds main arena, making the day run more smoothly. The cricket day is a wonderful local sporting event that players talk about for some time afterwards and it is the result of a huge team effort from a number of very dedicated ICPA members.
Alpha Branch capably hosted the 2016 State Conference in Alpha with a Tent City formed for accommodation!
