
Kimberley grew up on a property outside Julia Creek and began her education through Correspondence School. She later attended St Joseph’s Convent in Julia Creek for Years 1–7 before completing high school as a boarder in Charters Towers.
After earning her teaching degree, Kimberley taught in Quilpie while living on a nearby property with her husband, John. In late 2000, they returned to Julia Creek, where she took up a teaching position at Julia Creek State School.
Now living approximately 70 kilometers south of Julia Creek at Rutchillo station, Kimberley and John have three children. For the past 18 years, Kimberley has educated all of them, Peyton, starting at Charleville School of Distance Ed for 1 year and then all 3 through Mount Isa School of the Air. With just six months remaining, her youngest child, Zander, will soon begin boarding school at The Southport School. Her daughter, Kadence, graduated from Fairholme College in Toowoomba in 2024 and is currently studying a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at James Cook University in Townsville.
Kimberley has been actively involved with the Isolated Children’s Parents’ Association (ICPA) since 2001, beginning as a teacher at Julia Creek State School. Over the years, she has served in a variety of roles, including Publicity Officer, Vice President, and President. She was also a key member of the Convening Committee for the 2023 State Conference held in Julia Creek. She is now looking forward to working with the like-minded passionate people on State council as the News and Views Editor.
With firsthand experience as a student, teacher, and parent in rural education, Kimberley deeply understands the challenges and importance of access to quality education in remote areas. She is a passionate advocate for educational equity, firmly believing that all children—regardless of their geographic location—deserve the same opportunities as their urban counterparts.
