Karen Pedersen – FNQ Branch Life Member, 2022

Karen Pedersen joined the Far North Queensland Branch of ICPA in 1999. Over the following two decades, she became a dedicated and dependable member of the Branch, contributing her time, knowledge and experience to supporting ICPA and the rural and remote families it represents.

Throughout her years of involvement, Karen held a number of Branch roles, most notably serving as Secretary from 2004 to 2012. Her eight years in this position provided valuable continuity and administrative support to the Branch, while her involvement in organising regular meetings helped ensure members remained connected and engaged.

Karen also represented the FNQ Branch at numerous State and Federal Conferences over the years. She was a strong advocate for ICPA wherever she went, taking opportunities to promote the Branch and raise awareness of the important work undertaken by the organisation.

In 2002, Karen was involved in facilitating the ICPA Queensland State Conference, contributing to the considerable organisation required to host such an event. She also took responsibility for preserving important records of the Branch’s history, helping ensure the contribution of earlier members and the work of the FNQ Branch were recorded for future generations.

Beyond her formal roles, one of Karen’s most valued contributions has been her willingness to mentor and support other members. She has generously shared her knowledge and experience, remaining available to provide advice and assistance long after stepping away from executive positions.

In recognition of her more than two decades of dedicated service, eight years as Branch Secretary, extensive conference representation, preservation of Branch history and ongoing mentorship of fellow members, Karen Pedersen was recognised with Life Membership of the FNQ Branch in 2022. Her Life Membership acknowledges a longstanding commitment to ICPA and the strength and continuity of the Far North Queensland Branch.
