Judy Sedgwick – Longreach Branch Life Member, 1982
Judy Sedgwick was a foundation member of the Longreach Branch of ICPA, beginning an association with the Branch from its earliest days. Over the following years, Judy became a committed leader and contributor, serving in a number of executive and committee positions and helping establish a strong foundation for the Branch.
Among her early roles, Judy served as joint Secretary/Treasurer, as well as a committee member and Vice President. Her willingness to take on these responsibilities during the formative years of the Longreach Branch reflected her commitment to building and strengthening ICPA within the district.
Judy went on to provide further leadership as Branch President, with the historical nomination recording her presidency in 1978 and 1979. Her service also extended beyond the Longreach Branch to the wider organisation, with Judy serving on the ICPA Qld Executive Committee during 1977, 1978 and 1979.
Through her involvement at both Branch and State level, Judy contributed during an important period in ICPA’s early development. As a foundation member, her leadership and willingness to accept responsibility helped ensure the Longreach Branch developed into a strong voice for isolated children and their families.
In recognition of her service as a foundation member, Branch executive and member of the Queensland Executive Committee, Judy Sedgwick was awarded Life Membership of the Longreach Branch on 15 October 1982. Her Life Membership badge was subsequently presented on 7 December 1984, with the historical photograph showing Longreach Branch President Ted Starkey making the presentation.
