Background:

John & Margo Stevens – Julia Creek Branch Life Members, 2002

John & Margo Stevens were longstanding and dedicated members of the Julia Creek Branch, with their involvement beginning in 1972, during the Branch’s formative years. The Julia Creek Branch had been formed in 1971 and was inaugurated with the Bourke Branch in January 1972, making John & Margo part of its early membership.

For the following 30 years, John & Margo remained active members of the Branch, supporting its work and the educational needs of geographically isolated children and families throughout the Julia Creek district. Their three decades of involvement provided valuable continuity as ICPA developed and strengthened its advocacy for rural and remote education.

Through their longstanding involvement, John & Margo helped sustain the Julia Creek Branch and ensure it continued to provide a voice for successive generations of isolated families. Their service reflected the importance of experienced members remaining involved to support the Branch and the wider ICPA organisation.

In recognition of their 30 years of active membership, loyalty and dedicated service, John & Margo Stevens were jointly awarded Life Membership of the Julia Creek Branch in 2002. Their Life Membership was a fitting acknowledgement of three decades of commitment to ICPA and the rural and remote families of the Julia Creek district.
