Gay Tully – Channel Country Branch Life Member, 2004
Gay Tully’s involvement with the Channel Country Branch of ICPA began when she attended her first Branch meeting at Jundah Hall on 16 August 1986. It marked the beginning of many years of dedicated service to the Branch and to the wider ICPA organisation.
In March 1989, Gay was elected Secretary, Treasurer and Publicity Officer, before continuing as Secretary from November that year. She was re-elected Secretary in 1990 and again in 1992, holding the position until February 1993. Gay then took on the role of Branch President, providing more than a decade of leadership before stepping down in December 2003.
Throughout her years with the Branch, Gay represented Channel Country at both ICPA State and Federal Conferences. She was a dedicated and tireless supporter of ICPA, contributing not only through her executive roles but also through the many practical tasks that helped keep the Branch active and connected.
Together with her husband Brian, Gay regularly opened their garden to host fundraising Melbourne Cup luncheons for ICPA and initiated numerous other fundraising activities. These efforts enabled the Branch to send delegates and observers to State and Federal Conferences and to make donations to both State and Federal Councils. The Branch also provided annual donations towards Speech Night prizes for students from Jundah, Stonehenge, Windorah, Charleville School of Distance Education and Longreach School of Distance Education.
In recognition of her many years of leadership, fundraising, representation and dedicated service, Gay Tully was awarded Life Membership of the Channel Country Branch of ICPA. Her Life Membership recognised an outstanding commitment to ICPA and the rural and remote families represented by her Branch.
