Gail Truelove – Cairns Radio Branch Life Member, 1998

Gail Truelove was a dedicated and highly valued member of the Cairns Radio Branch of ICPA, whose leadership and commitment helped provide stability and strength to the Branch over many years. Described by her fellow members as “the rock on which Cairns Radio Branch is anchored”, Gail continued her involvement even after her own children had completed their education.

Gail served as Branch President for seven years, but her contribution extended far beyond simply holding the position. During a period when the Branch faced considerable challenges, her reliability, persistence and willingness to take responsibility helped hold the organisation together and ensured it continued to support geographically isolated families.

Her leadership style was remembered as understanding, supportive and encouraging. Rather than simply directing others, Gail led by example and willingly shared the workload whenever fellow executive members needed assistance. Her approachable manner and readiness to help created a supportive environment for those working alongside her.

As President, Gail was regarded as completely dependable and willing to undertake whatever was required without complaint. She also took on the personal challenge of public speaking and dealing with the media, developing considerable confidence and skill in representing the Branch and its members.

Gail’s dedication did not end when she stepped away from the presidency. She continued to attend meetings regularly and remained a valued contributor to the Branch, demonstrating that her commitment to ICPA extended well beyond any particular position or the schooling years of her own family.

In recognition of her seven years as President, outstanding leadership and longstanding dedication to the Cairns Radio Branch, Gail Truelove was awarded Branch Life Membership on 18 May 1998.
