Don & Elizabeth Hick – Julia Creek Branch Life Members, 2002
Don & Elizabeth Hick were longstanding and dedicated members of the Julia Creek Branch, with their involvement dating back to the Branch’s earliest years. The Julia Creek Branch was formed in 1971 and inaugurated with the Bourke Branch in January 1972, with Don & Elizabeth becoming active members from 1972.
For the following 30 years, Don & Elizabeth remained committed supporters of the Branch. Their involvement spanned generations of rural and remote families and continued long after their own children had completed their education. This enduring commitment demonstrated that their connection to ICPA extended well beyond their own family’s educational needs.
As members from the formative years of the Julia Creek Branch, Don & Elizabeth provided valuable continuity and support as the organisation developed. Their willingness to remain actively involved helped sustain the Branch and its work advocating for educational opportunities for geographically isolated children.
In recognition of their 30 years of active involvement, loyalty and dedicated service to ICPA, Don & Elizabeth Hick were jointly awarded Life Membership of the Julia Creek Branch in 2002. Their Life Membership was a fitting acknowledgement of a couple who had supported the Branch from its earliest days and continued to contribute for three decades.
