ABOUT DUBBO

Dubbo is a regional city located in Central West New South Wales. It is where the Newell (North- south), Mitchell (East – West) and Golden (East) highways meet. Dubbo is established on both sides of the banks of the majestic Macquarie River, in the heart of the beautiful Macquarie Valley. Dubbo has a growing population of approximately 44,000 people.

Dubbo’s rich cultural history began with the Wiradjuri People, Dubbo’s name ‘Dhubbu’ is named after the Womens’ ceremonial morning cap. The waterways of the Dubbo Region have always held a special significance to the Wiradjuri people. The Macquarie rivers’ traditional name is Wambuul meaning ‘Winding River”, the ebb and flow of the Wambuul through Dubbo provided many ceremonial sites and gathering places.

Our Conference is being held at the Dubbo RSL Club, centrally located in the CBD area of Dubbo, we have a great variety of attractions including the CBD city heritage walk, Old Dubbo Gaol, Western Plains Cultural Centre and Art Gallery, The Dubbo Wiradjuri Garden, just out of town the Taronga Western Plains Zoo, RFDS Visitors Experience, Dubbo Observatory, and Dundullimal Homestead just to name a few.

We also have a vibrant array of cafés, restaurants, bars and hotels to tempt your taste buds as well as retail shops in Macquarie, Brisbane, Talbragar, Wingewarra and Bultje Streets along with Orana Mall, Tamworth Street and Boundary Road shops.
