Sue Jago – Clermont Branch Life Member, 1997
Sue Jago was a foundation member of the Clermont Branch of ICPA and served as the Branch’s inaugural Treasurer. Together with her husband Charles, Sue played an important role in establishing the Clermont Branch in 1972, beginning a long association with ICPA and its advocacy for isolated children and their families.
While Sue worked diligently behind the scenes, Charles served as Branch President for six years and was also a member of State Council. During these years, Sue supported both his involvement and their family while educating their three children, John, Geoffrey and Annabelle. Her contribution reflected the strong family commitment that underpinned the establishment and growth of the Clermont Branch.
One of Sue’s most significant contributions came in 1990, when she served as Convenor of the ICPA Queensland State Conference held in Clermont. The role required an enormous amount of organisation and coordination, and Sue successfully led a strong team of helpers to deliver the conference.
Over many years, Sue remained a backbone of the Clermont Branch, assisting with numerous projects and continuing to support ICPA even after her own family’s schooling years had passed. Much of her work was carried out quietly behind the scenes, but her contribution was longstanding and greatly valued by fellow members.
In recognition of her role as a foundation member, inaugural Treasurer, State Conference Convenor and many years of dedicated service, Sue Jago was awarded Life Membership of the Clermont Branch on 28 October 1997. Her Life Membership provided a fitting acknowledgement of her enduring contribution to the Branch she had helped establish 25 years earlier.
