Raye O’Sullivan – Clermont Branch Life Member, 2002

Raye O’Sullivan became a member of ICPA in 1979, initially becoming involved while her children were studying through Distance Education. Her own family’s experiences gave Raye a strong understanding of the importance of connection, support and educational opportunities for geographically isolated students and their families.

In those early years, Raye helped organise activity days for Distance Education students, often coordinating them with ICPA meetings so that home tutors could attend Branch meetings while their children participated in activities. This practical approach helped strengthen both the educational and social opportunities available to local families.

Over the years, Raye took on several leadership roles within the Clermont Branch, serving as Branch President and Secretary for two terms, and later as Publicity Officer. She also represented the Branch as a delegate at numerous State and Federal Conferences, taking Clermont Branch motions forward for debate and ensuring the concerns of local families were represented within the wider organisation.

One of Raye’s most significant contributions was her role as Convenor of the Clermont ICPA Sports Camps, with a particular focus on team sports. Raye coordinated the camps for five years, and they became a highlight of the educational calendar for Distance Education and small-school students throughout the area.

Throughout her years of involvement, Raye remained a strong and consistent supporter of both ICPA and the Clermont Branch. Her leadership, conference representation and commitment to providing opportunities for isolated children made a lasting contribution to the Branch and the families it represented.

In recognition of her many years of dedicated service and commitment to ICPA, Raye O’Sullivan was awarded Life Membership of the Clermont Branch on 6 July 2002. Her Life Membership acknowledged her valuable contribution to the Branch and her commitment to the principles and purpose of ICPA.
