Neville’s first conference was in Blackall believed to be around 2004 when cassette tapes were used to record the conference. The switch to computers made it easier for Neville and so many others. Can you imagine those days when the tape used to be eaten up by the recorder and then the task of rerolling in without damaging it.
Neville was asked to do the 2009 Federal conference in Longreach, then Emma Brodie asked Neville to do state conference in Winton the same year. Since assisting ICPA Conferences, Outback Sound have been to Cloncurry, Charters Towers, twice to Winton, Blackall, Cunnamulla, Rockhampton, Alpha, St George, Goondiwindi & Tambo give or take a couple.

Every year, Outback Sound has been our preferred sound and visual technician for our Qld State Conferences. Neville knows the ins and outs of how ICPA Qld work, and nothing is ever too hard for Nev. Neville even handles areas outside of sound and visual such as Kate messaging the minutes table to ask Nev to turn the air conditioner down as everyone is melting, and just like that the job is done.

Nev finds it amusing with delegates trying to speak into the microphones, if they held it close and they thought it was too loud they would hold the mic about 12 inches away from their mouth and no one could hear them until the chair asked them to hold the mic up for recording purposes.

We appreciate Neville being a part of the State Conference and he always likes to catch up with the members every year as they all know Neville and his wife Deb from Outback Sound & Visual. Just quietly, Neville often says I know that face, but the name eludes me. So many people have met Nev and after all these years he is matching up the names and faces.

Every year they turn up, setup and away they go. Neville’s quote “I always feel important because I am at the same table as the Minute Takers and the Assistant Secretary. They are always friendly and full of cheek, no questions asked, apart from one-year Louise Martin, I think it was her, had a dream and woke up wondering if we had the roving microphones with us.”

Outback Sound & Visual have only missed four conferences since Winton that was one each in Charters Towers, Townsville, Roma and Toowoomba.
