Marion Fletcher has been a part of ICPA since 1977, firstly as a member of the Bowen/Collinsville Branch and then as an inaugural member of the Belyando/Mt Coolon branch when it formed in August 1984.
Through this time, Marion has played an important role as a branch member. Marion has held many executive positions over the years – Vice-President 1985, Branch President 1986/1987/1988; Secretary 1989; Vice-President 1990; Auditor 1991; President 1997/1998/1999
A broad representation of delegates has attended State & Federal Conferences over the years with Marion Fletcher being one of the most ardent delegates. Marion has attended Federal Conferences in 1986, 1988, 1995, 1996, 1197 and 1998 taking her to many different locations as far away as Adelaide and Broome. In 1990, 1991, 1996 and 1999, Marion attended State Conferences taking her from Clermont to Charleville and places in between. Marion assisted, along with other branch members, in the running of a State Conference in Mackay and Clermont. In 1996, Marion took two delegates under her wing and accompanied them to Federal & State Conferences.
In 1997, Marion’s phone number appeared on ICPA PR brochures as the contact person for information if people wanted to join ICPA. Marion’s wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm towards ICPA has encouraged many new members to join our branch over the years. Marion is always keen to assist younger members and keep the branch focused. Over the years since the Belyando/Mt Coolon branch was formed, Marion has only missed seven meetings. Marion’s tireless efforts at various functions assist our branch in holding many successful activities throughout the year. Marion can always be relied upon to help out. This kind of support is extremely valuable to our organisation.
Although Marion is not actively involved in educating at the moment she is keen to stay involved and fully supports the aim of ICPA – “Working together for equality of access to education for all students who live in rural and remote Australia”.
