Barbara Clark – Roma Branch Life Membership, 2020

Barbara Clark has been a dedicated and valued member of the Roma Branch of ICPA since 1992, contributing many years of leadership, commitment and support to the organisation at both Branch and State levels. Her longstanding involvement reflects a genuine passion for rural education and a determination to ensure geographically isolated families have access to equitable educational opportunities.

In 2000, Barb was elected Secretary of the Roma Branch, taking on responsibility for the Branch's administration and helping ensure its continued operation. Her dedication and leadership were further recognised when she became Branch President in 2004, providing guidance and support to members while representing the educational interests of rural families throughout the Roma district.

Barb's contribution extended beyond her local Branch when she joined ICPA Queensland State Council, serving until 2011. Through her involvement at State level, she contributed to the wider organisation's work advocating for improved educational opportunities and services for geographically isolated children.

Importantly, Barb's commitment to ICPA continued after completing her formal leadership roles. At the time of her nomination in 2020, she remained actively involved in the Roma Branch, regularly attending Annual General Meetings and supporting successive Branch committees. Her ongoing involvement provided valuable continuity, encouragement and experience to those taking on leadership responsibilities.

Throughout her years of service, Barb demonstrated the importance of experienced members remaining connected to their Branch and supporting future generations of rural families. Her willingness to contribute over many years reflected a commitment to ICPA that extended well beyond her own family's educational needs.

In recognition of her 28 years of dedicated membership, service as Branch Secretary and President, contribution to ICPA Queensland State Council and ongoing support of the Roma Branch, Barbara Clark was nominated for Life Membership of the Roma Branch. Her nomination acknowledged her longstanding dedication to ICPA and her contribution to supporting educational opportunities for rural and remote children and their families.
