🔍 How Scammers Are Evolving:

  • Telstra’s Cyber team has observed a shift in scammer behaviour: as Australians become more adept at spotting scams, fraudsters are adapting.
  • Scammers are moving away from high-volume, transactional SMS scams and adopting a “low and slow” approach—building trust over time through more personalized, conversational messages.
  • They're leveraging AI to craft convincing communications, often redirecting victims to encrypted messaging platforms where detection is harder.
