Early Childhood

EVERY pre schooler must have access to early childhood education irrespective of whether there is only one or two, their right to access to that education is to be guaranteed.

Early Childhood Education for remote families is currently a huge cost in time and money. Whether families travel to attend a pre school in town or enrol in DE pre school it requires a committed family member’s time (and therefore money) to ensure the mandated access hours for 3&4 year olds is able to be completed.

ICPA NSW has brought this Inequity to the attention of the NSW DoE and continues to work with the Early Childhood Education and Care Directorate to ensure the situation is changed.

ICPA NSW is pleased that in addressing the problem Weilmoringle and Louth now have operating pre schools. Wanaaring has started this term, Term 1 2021.

ICPA NSW would like to see this establishment of pre schools roll out happen more swiftly and comprehensively, believing there are communities such as White Cliffs, Tibooburra, Pooncarrie, Palinweyah, Marra Creek, Hermidale and Ivanhoe which would benefit and that they should not have to wait for that service.
