Annabel and her husband Jim live on a property 120kms south west of Bourke and 70 kms west of Louth and have lived there for 38 years. They have three children Ben 37, Alec 34 and Lachlan 27.
Ben and Alec started schooling at Bourke Distance Education Centre then moved to Louth Public School travelling up to 280kms a day when not working at the school. All travel was by private vehicle as there were no buses available.
The three boys attended boarding school in Sydney. Ben is a qualified carpenter and is now studying Primary/Early childhood at CSU Dubbo. Alec is a mechanic by trade and has now completed a degree in Business and Commerce working as a valuer. Lachlan is currently working at a high school in Dubbo in the behavioural unit.
Annabel had been very involved at Louth Public School working as the School Administration Manager for 18 years. Annabel recently resigned in 2020 and now does some casual administration work in Bourke.
She has been a member of the Louth branch of the ICPA since its inception and has helped co-convene two ICPA State Conferences, one in 1998 at Cobar and more recently in 2017 at Bourke.
Annabel has seen many isolated families benefit from the hard work of ICPA and looks forward to contributing towards helping and ensure education equity for all isolated children.
