Collarenebri - Mungindi

The Collarenebri Branch of ICPA was originally formed on 19th June 1972. The first President was Robert Greenaway, Secretary - Joan Proctor and Treasurer - Lochie Morrell. By 1977 the branch had closed due to lack of numbers.

The Collarenebri Branch was reformed on 28th October 1978, with 34 present and 9 apologies. Rosemary Wilson was elected President, a position she held for the next three years. Harry and Marie Dodd were elected joint secretary/treasurer for the next two years. In 1981 Katie Bucknell was elected Secretary/Treasurer, before becoming President in 1984, a position she held for the next 12 years. Collarenebri branch helped Moree branch host the 1982 State conference. Two other members to hold office for an extended period of time within the branch were Helen Charters - Secretary 1987 to 1994, and Avalyn Muller, Treasurer 1989 to 1993.

Collarenebri branch has sent delegates to every State & Federal Conference since it reformed. The branch also has a proud record on State council, being represented first by Marie Dodd, then Katie Bucknell for 12 years and by Leila Osborn for 6 years. Marie & Kate also spent time on Federal Council, as did Ian Osborn who was Federal Treasurer for 4 years.

On 1st June 1997, life membership was presented to Katie Bucknell for her many years of service to the Collarenebri branch. On 20th May 1998 a certificate of appreciation was awarded to George Smith who had audited the branch books every year since it reformed.

In January 2000 the Collarenebri branch changed its name to the Collarenebri / Mungindi branch in recognition of the increasing number of members in the Mungindi area while the Collarenebri numbers have dwindled.

In 2017 the branch established as award to be given to each of the three primary schools in our region. The prize is a book voucher for a student who tries hard throughout the year and has a ‘can do’ attitude. This student should not be receiving an award for sport, academic excellence or cultural pursuits. The award has been well received at the Collarenebri and Mungindi Central Schools and St Joseph’s Primary School in Mungindi.
