Background:

Mother, cattle producer, advocate for rural and remote families. Amber Driver represents the typical station woman. She wears many hats in order to keep their family owned and operated cattle station productive & future focused while also supporting her community. She flies her own Cessna 206, knows her way around the shed workshop and kitchen and now spends much of her time in the office as she takes on a different type of responsibility for the Company ‘The Books’.

Amber has been a strong advocate and volunteer for community groups such as the School of the Air, ICPA, Harts Range Rodeo and the Northern Territory Cattlemen's Association since moving to the Northern Territory in 1999.

Born in QLD, growing up between Narrabri & Wee Waa NSW, Amber had her sights set on moving to the Northern Territory. After 6 years at boarding school in Tamworth, she packed her WB Ute and headed north. The rest is history, Amber has called the NT home ever since.

A finalist for the 2018 Rural Women’s Awards, Amber identified the challenges faced by rural women living in the NT as a key focus area. Her initiative outlined workshops to equip women with the tools to generate positive pathways for self-prosperity, resilience and success, and to encourage them to take on new roles to serve both the rural sector and the community.

Amber has been an active Alice Springs ICPA Branch member since 2008. Since joining ICPA she has dedicated 10 years to the Branch Executive (4 years as Branch President, 3 years as branch Vice President and various other positions) and was a co-convenor and host of the 2017 ICPA Federal Conference held in Alice Springs. This was Ambers first Federal ICPA Conference and since then, Amber has been preparing to step up to the plate and represent members at the Federal Level.

Amber and John have two children; Sonny completed Year 12 in 2022 (8 years of homeschooling via distance education and 6 years at boarding school in Adelaide). Ruben has followed in his brothers footsteps and is now embarking on his first away at boarding school in Adelaide.

Ambers passion for helping develop strong and caring communities for geographically isolated families and the pastoral industry remain high on her agenda. So, after many years of supporting from afar, the time to join the ICPA Federal Council had finally arrived. Amber's first appointment is as the leader of the Boarding Portfolio. Of course, none of this would be possible without the incredible and ongoing support of her husband John, boys, extended family and staff at Elkedra Station.
