Tanya was born and raised on a property around two hours west of Bourke in Far Western NSW. She and her brother started school through Distance Education, learning at home with the support of their mum or a governess until high school. Tanya then spent two years at the local high school, boarding with her grandparents in town as there was no hostel or boarding facility, before continuing her education at boarding school. After university—and time living overseas and in Sydney—Tanya returned to Bourke to work, and to raise and educate her four children, both locally and through boarding school.
Tanya’s family were integral in the formation of ICPA and has been associated with her local branch since early 2000, held the position of branch president of Bourke for 14 years, joined NSW State Council in 2018 – holding positions of President, Vice-President, Immediate Past President and Assistant Secretary. Tanya has also held the portfolios of Tertiary, Allowances and Communications.
