I live at Cymbric Vale Station, NE of Broken Hill among the ranges of the Mutawintji National Park with my husband Michael and daughters Lilli and Ivy. The Anderson’s have been on Cymbric Vale since 1921 and our girls are 5th generation. Lilli is attending Loreto College in Adelaide as a boarder and Ivy is in her final year with School of the Air.
During my time in the school room supervising my girls, it became increasingly evident that kids learn very differently from each other and that the opportunities for kids in distance education are more complicated that their city peers. My mother in law said to me when it came time for Michael and I to purchase Cymbric “If you join any committees, make sure its ICPA.” Like her, I saw it vitally important that I advocate for my kids, and all the kids in rural and remote areas.
Being a ‘town’ girl I really didn’t understand how education was different in the bush, until I had my own children and so my ICPA journey began.
Attending conferences has been a highlight for me. Meeting like minded people with a common goal has inspired me to play an active role in the Broken Hill Branch and I’m excited for my new role as Publicity Officer for State.
