Background:

Paulaine and her Partner were born in Namibia, they came to Australia in 2011 and started working on Todmorden Station. They fell in love with the country and have been there ever since.

She has 2 children, the eldest is 13 boarding in Burra and the youngest is 10 and studies via School Of The Air (SOTA) Port Augusta. For Paulaine it has been daunting to learn a completely new school system when her children started SOTA, and then to have to learn anew when her first child went to boarding school.

She was encouraged to join the SA ICPA by other SOTA Parents, and it has been a great way to learn more about education and others in the bush.

Realising that her children struggled with school, her son was diagnosed with dysgraphia and her daughter with dyslexia. Paulaine self diagnosed herself with dyslexia after finding out her children's diagnoses. Now she has a real passion for special needs in education as she has first hand experience of the struggles, barriers and joy felt.
