Pedals Magazine - July 2026 Edition

Hello Readers,

I’ll admit, sometimes I find myself going through the motions when putting together this magazine. Proofread this, upload to OneDrive that, check and double check captions – like all of us who volunteer our time, I sometimes wonder how I’m going to squeeze in the time required to get it all done, while still keeping up with the everyday demands of a full-time job and life in general. Now, I’m not writing this to have a whinge nor to seek sympathy but rather for it to be an encouraging reminder to us all that when the opportunity to be a part of something bigger than ourselves comes along, we at ICPA seldom balk at the opportunity to jump on board – and that’s what makes our organisation so special and the time contribution of volunteering so rewarding.

One of my favourite stories from this issue is written by Bronwyn Tofaeono of NSW State Council and Lord Howe Island. For those unaware, Lord Howe Island is probably the most unique of all the ICPA branches. Located 780km North East of Sydney in the Tasman Sea, the UNESCO World Heritage listed island experiences geographic isolation of a different kind. Now, I won’t spoil Bronwyn’s punch line, but it’s certainly worth the read and you can find it on page 38.

I’m looking forward to seeing many of you on the Gold Coast at the end of the month for Federal Conference. The convening committee has been working tirelessly to provide you with a quintessential ‘Gold Coast’ experience and will not be one to miss. All the finer details can be found on page 5.

Until next time,
Hannah Calcino - ICPA Pedals Magazine Editor
