ICPA Federal President, Alana Moller said, “It is pleasing to see that as a result of ICPA Australia’s representations to the Minister and his staff, the challenges for our geographically isolated families have been recognised.  Access to child care in rural and remote Australia is a major concern for ICPA members and to extend the transitional provisions for IHC educators to earn their qualifications shows that the Federal Government have listened to suggestions made during our discussions.”

The motion put forward by Senator Hanson called for the Federal Government to consider putting in place a Rural Hardship Education Fund or other options to assist geographically isolated students and their families with educational expenses during times of rural hardship.

The 48th Annual Federal Isolated Children’s Parents’ Association Conference was held at the Adelaide Oval on 31 July and 1 August with over 190 delegates and guests for across Australia attending to discuss ninety-five motions encompassing rural and remote education issues.
