Distance Education (DE) Canberra Wrap Up - November 2024
Key discussions held between Federal Council and the Department of Education (DoE) at the recent delegations to Camberra. These included:
• Distance education (DE) schools meeting their obligations for learning and well-being for all students. It was discussed at length that all schools, including DE schools, need to meet their obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act.
• School Resource Standards (SRS) for our geographically isolated (GI) students, focusing on the location of the DE school and the location of the student.
• In Home Care to include a clause to provide the ability for the employment of a supervisor for school-aged children in the DE classroom.
