Federal Council October Meeting Highlights
The October 2024 Federal Council face-to-face meeting in Canberra brought together members to address key organisational objectives and chart the course for the year ahead. This meeting marked the first face-to-face gathering for the new council since the Federal Conference, providing some members with their first opportunity to meet their fellow councillors.

Efforts are underway to streamline membership processes, including an improved life membership payment system, updated database management and rolling membership

The implementation of the strategic plan and identifying grant opportunities highlighted the council’s commitment to sustainability and growth.

ICPA’s publicity initiatives continue to grow, with plans to enhance media strategies for events such as RREd Day. Efforts to align updates across the website, social media, and media releases aim to maximise visibility and impact.

Council ratified updated policy objectives and addressed necessary amendments to the constitution. Ongoing efforts are being made to resolve rule inconsistencies and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.

Delegations
Delegation meetings on Wednesday 9th October coincided with the inaugural Rural and Remote Education Day (RREd Day). Councillors attended 24 delegation meetings and proudly wore red as part of the campaign to raise awareness of the unique challenges faced by students and families in rural and remote areas of Australia.
Looking Ahead to 2025
The council outlined key dates for future meetings and events, with the next delegation meeting to Canberra planned for February 2025 and the Federal Conference scheduled for Adelaide in July 2025. Other state meetings and conferences are planned throughout the first half of the year, ensuring ongoing engagement and progress.
