Welcome to the Dirranbandi page.

Dirranbandi Branch covers the areas of Dirranbandi and Hebel located on the Qld/NSW border. We are fortunate to be located on bitumen roads although floodwater can be an issue. (we wish….. just at present!) We are proud to be the second formed branch in Queensland following Cunnamulla in September 1971. Amongst the founding members were Anne and Tony Gall, Garth and Sue Ferguson, Rens Carson and Ken and Margaret Mander-Jones. Our branch has had considerable representation at a State and Federal level.

This year we have begun a concentrated push to raise our profile; attract membership and inform the community of what we represent and our function. We are still trying to break the notion that ICPA is for boarding students only. Along with the St George Branch we published articles in local papers outlining the role of ICPA in our district.

We are endeavouring to put on an event each holidays for all kids to reinforce our message of “ICPA for all Kids.” In June/July we held a tennis tournament, which was a resounding success despite unbelievably cold and windy weather. These holidays we are holding a fun golf day for all kids.

Armed with our new aprons embroidered prominently with ICPA initials, and recently with the help of the ICPA information board, we have catered at various functions. We hope people are left in no doubt who we represent and learn a little more of what we do.

PARTICULAR ISSUES OF CONCERN

  • The Bypass Schools Project as it continues to impact on members in our community and may affect others with the high incidence of contractors now residing in and passing through our community.
  • Difficulty in getting continuity of staffing in our community.
  • Difficulty in attracting applicants experienced &/or capable for Principal positions.
  • Difficulty in attracting any applicants for Principal positions.
  • Continual parade of Acting District/Executive Directors in South West Region.
